Forbidden Fruit

A lifetime of wandering
From one to another
Years
Spent alone
Looking for the right one
But finding forbidden fruit

A simple conversation
Turns into another
A desire to know
More

He is forbidden fruit
Belongs to another
Wears his heart on his sleeve
And tells you he loves her

Listening to each other,
As only a lovers do
Hearing
Him sing her praises
In the back of your mind
You think the unthinkable

A rapor begins
You seek each other’s words
A “comfort zone” between you
Like neither has known before
And in the back of their minds….
They think “forbidden fruit”

Learning about each other
Through hours of words
A tremendous trust evolves
To say whatever need be
To seek solace in words
That can’t be spoken in comfort to others

Problems discussed
Exquisite pictures drawn
Wonderful infectious laughter
And even tears
The feelings grow stronger
For “forbidden fruit”

The feelings are mutual
The confusion abounds
What do you do?
You are drawn to each other
Like soulmates from the past
Distant lives
But this time “forbidden fruit”

An unquenchable appetite
For each other’s words
Time spent together
Shared thoughts
Feelings explored
Is now craved

Like a magnetic pull
They cannot separate
Thirsting for more knowledge of each other
So, so very much alike
They speak the same words

They share the same dreams
A lifetimes worth
Wants and needs
Remarkably alike
Identical souls
Needing each other
Reaching for
“forbidden fruit”

It’s hard for them
But it’s so easy too
They know it is wrong
But it is also so “right”
To be so close
But unable to touch
Whispered words
Make aching hearts swell

They find their love
Through only words
Hearts touch
Melt
Merge
They become one
Lost in each other
Lost without the other
She has reached her quest
In the elusive mate

Her soulmate
The search is over
But he loves someone else
She is too late
He loves them both
