
DIRECTIONS.......
In a small bowl, sift together 2 cups of flour with 1/2 teaspoon each nutmeg and ginger, 1/4 teaspoon baking powder and salt.
FROSTED TREE COOKIES

COOKIE INGREDIENTS.......

2 cups of all purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon of ginger
1/4 teaspoon of baking powder
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1 cup of butter
1/2 cup of confectioner's sugar (icing sugar)

FROSTING INGREDIENTS.....
2/3 cups of confectioner's sugar (icing sugar>
2 tablespoons of water
green food colouring

Blend butter and sugar in a large bowl. Slowly blend in flour mixture (1/3 at a time). When dough is well blended, wrap with plastic wrap and chill for 2 hours.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly butter one or two cookie sheets. Pull of 1/4 of the chilled dough and roll out to 1/4" thick. Cut out Christmas Trees with a tree shaped cookie cutter. Place 1" apart on cookie sheets and prick in several places with a fork. Continue process until all dough is cut into trees.

Bake 15 to 20 minutes or until dough is light brown. Cool completely. Mix frosting ingredients until well blended. Frost cookies with green icing and decorate with green and red sugars.
